That single word echoes in your head as if it were a subterranean chamber.
Your natural reaction is to respond, but your mind is clear of all coherent thoughts and your mouth is still as if it were not your own.
You strain to open your eyes a sliver in an attempt to discover your surroundings. You fail.
The bright white light overhead is too intense.
As control of your own self degrades, you lose interest in your situation.
Your eyes slowly close as if they were going into their own gentle sleep.
"He can't hear us."
Oddly you still can, yet your mind feels numb and any thoughts to comprehend the voices that enter quickly fade.
You can no longer feel your body.
Your mind drifts into a subconscious state of being...

The electronic mechanism makes a buzzing sound followed by an all too familiar negative tone.
You've been at this entry-point before, but for some reason your key-card isn’t working at the moment.
Should you [[try the card again? | Try Keycard Again]]
Or do you [[look for help? | Look for Help]]You wipe your key-card with the sleeve of your shirt to remove any possible filth from the magentic strip. With a bit more force, you swipe it through the entry system again.
The second attempt at swiping your card proves useless as the mechanism responds “whirrrr - buzzz” followed by a negative "beep."
"This is the third time this month..." you whisper to yourself with frustration.
[[Continue-> Look for Help]] Intent on getting your card to work, you peer around for anyone in the area and realize that you haven’t seen a soul yet this morning. You further walk the hallway to find any sign of life.
As you've made your way to the opposite end of the hallway during your search, you approach the area’s monitoring and communications systems.
"Maybe I'll have better luck with these..."
Try using the [[intercom system | Try The Intercom]]
Try getting someone's attention via the [[visual monitoring system | Try The Camera]] The intercom system is probably the quickest and easiest way for anyone to contact anyone else at any given time.
Seeing as though you left your portable intercom unit elsewhere, you press the “Go” button on the wall mounted unit. You hear nothing but static.
You try a second press... “Scrchhhhhhhhhh...” is the only response.
After what seems like only seconds, a light crackling sound comes from the unit’s speaker.
An operator’s voice suddenly chimes in and states “You are not authorized to use this system. Thank You.”
Another light crackle emits from the unit’s speaker and then it goes silent.

Walk the hallway [[looking for help. | Walk the Hallway]] Realizing that finding someone to help will be more difficult than you thought, you approach one of the area’s visual recognition systems.
After a few moments of awkwardly standing in front of the system’s ceiling mounted camera and staring at the lens, you begin waving your arm to draw attention to anyone who may be monitoring on the other end. You also start pointing to the door at the opposite end of the hallway, hinting at the fact that you would like entry.

[[Continue | The Flashback Begins]]With a puzzled look on your face, you turn to the left and look up at the area’s visual recognition system.
As you approach the ceiling mounted device in effort to gain a monitor’s attention, the unit’s bright red LED “Out of Order” display begins rotating within the black glass bubble in which it is enclosed.
You stand looking at the display in disbelief, when you unexpectedly hear a door entry system buzz and chime from around the corner.
Do you look to see [[what caused the noise | What Caused the Noise]] from around the corner?
Do you [[run & hide? | Run and Hide]]Convinced that someone must have noticed you on the other end, you stop waving your arms. You patiently wait and listen for the familiar click on the entry system that identifies that the doors have been opened.
As nothing happens, you think of how odd this morning’s routine is turning out.
You once again talk to yourself. "Strange, this area should be monitored at all times. Someone on the other end surely recognizes me."
[[Continue-> Try Visual System]] As the nearby elevator offers the quickest escape and exit route, you press the “Down” button.
You wait for what seems like hours for the elevsator car to arrive.
Eventually, the doors slide open and you step inside. After immediately pressing the “Close” button to suppress the noise of the alarm, you press the “Main” button to return the the entryway.
After a brief moment of repeatedly pressing the numerous buttons found on the elevator’s panel, the lights flicker several times and eventually go out. Very dim emergency lighting then activates.
Having exhausted most buttons on the panel, you have few options to remedy your situation.
[[Continue-> To Be Continued!]][[Continue-> To Be Continued!]][[Continue-> To Be Continued!]]No sooner than you can finish your first step away from the visual monitoring system, the area’s internal emergency siren fills the hall with an accelerating and ear-piercing wail.
"What? It can't be!?"
Being aware that this type of emergency alert is only used during a catastrophe, you immediately following known protocol and make your way to the area's closest stairwell exit around the corner.
